Did you know that dolphins don’t automatically breathe but that they have to tell themselves to? Those little mermaids. Hold your breath then, flippers – and lovers of a good 80s pop vibe. Because Night Games might just have what you have been looking for on this sunny cold day. Faithless is the London duos’ latest gem and they bring a slow tingly composition and smooth vocals that might actually make you, human, lose your breath. Team Poule says, oh we are ready for those 80s night games.
A rather nice piece of music coming in from Quebec, Oh Canada. Men I Trust is operating as a four piece and when their latest track Humming Man hit the speakers at Poule headquarters it all went wooo. A perfect melding of soothing vocals, warm on-point production and a general fuzzyness that really puts the exclamation mark on this. Humming Man, then, tells the story of an old man who became suspicious and cut himself from the rest of the world, daring not to leave his home – wrapped in the most beautiful sounds (and visuals), and this lovely artwork which is also available as a rather nice tshirt print. Team Poule says, staying home is sometimes just what you need.
Pass the Courvoisier. One of Team Poule’s most beloved Parisians have stepped forward and released a new song, hoo-rah! Encore! play one of the finest electro type of musics you will find, a unique mix of straight forward beats, crystal clear strings of bass and a distinct set of vocals. This is workout music. Walk is their latest gem and if you hit play and picture yourself wandering the streets of Pigalle – you find yourself taken straight into the weekend. Team Poule says, Encore go the extra mile.
Did you know, that the Niesenbahn in the Swiss Kandertal is the longest continuous-cable funicular in Europe? Switzerland huh, they sure love a good cable funicular. Coincidentally, Kapnorth, the snowy ensemble up left, hail from just that corner of the Earth. And not only that, they just announced the release of their second album yet, mind you, titled Dematerialze. Quite charmingly, the new album will contain 10 songs and for each song a video artist has directed a video. Now and here comes the kicker: all of them added up will make a full on movie to be shown in selected cinemas September 20th! I hope your cinema will be selected. In the meantime, the album is set to be released May 1st.
First video off the chain is A Helping Hand, produced by Formax Void. Team Poule says, a helping hand can never be wrong.
Did you know that babies are born without knee caps? They apparently only grow between age 2 to 6. Now, I don’t actually know if that is 100% correct in medical terms but now that I got your attention let me point you in the direction of Tussilago, a rather exciting young group of musicians from the beautiful country of Sweden. Where presumably most people go through their days with two healthy knee caps. Tussilago then fuse one the most addictable riffs and pop vibes seen in a while. Vast and wide while being intimately warm around the ears.
Quite fittingly then, nordic team Ja Ja Ja added them to their latest line up of shows which sees the coltsfooted Swedes playing Hamburgs fine Molotow club tomorrow, 9 March, alongside hot shots LISS and dePresno. For the gig in Berlin on Thursday Danish sensations Blaue Blume will be added to the ticket too, find all info here. Attached below is Tussilago’s latest gem, Zilverkraut. Poule says, right in the kisser, Ja Ja Ja.
Main man Sway Clarke is firmly positioned to take over 2016. Fresh out the oven is his 90’s fused mixtape Quiet. It’s My 90’s Mixtape. A sort of cover project taking on the great names from Foo Fighters, Oasis, Blur, Travis and the Beastie Boys to Pearl Jam, Nirvana, Nas & Lauryn Hill. Names that entered the limelight more than two decades ago. A time when Garfield was your number one homie, when music videos were something you waited for to come on on TV, mind you, and rewinding cassette tapes was a legitimate way to spend your afternoon. Actually, if you still are into that kind of thing and can appreciate the beauty of an actual recording, limited quantities of cassette tapes containing Sway’s 90s sounds are available here – along with a full stream.
Also, Sway Clarke is currently touring the northern parts of the UK, playing Leeds tonight actually before hitting stages in Glasgow, Birmingham, Manchester, London and Bristol. Get your tickets fast.
Attached below then – with hat-tips to Oasis and the Beastie Boys – are Champagne Supernova and Sabotage (Reprise) by Mr. Sway Clarke, making this mixtape both rad and new. Team Poule says, smooth as silk.
