premiere du jour: Outblinker – Hallogallo

outblinkerSome might be familiar with Neu! the German 1970s krautrock band, formed by early-stage members of the legendary Kraftwerk ensemble. Here now come Outblinker, an energetic group out of Glasgow with a cover version of Neu!’s epic 10 minute Hallogallo single from the early 70s. A simple yet absolutely enlightening mix of dreamy riffs and synths, distinct rhythm and an ultimately swathing melody to it. While there still is a whole lot of Neu! in this one, Outblinker’s EP The Remains Of Walter Peck has more original tracks in the same vein – an absolute treat.

And one best to be seen on a stage I reckon! Lucky then, that they will be touring fair old Europe for the next five weeks. On the ticket are too many shows to list but they do make a stop in London, Geneva, Paris, a ton of Italian cities, Madrid, Barcelona, Montpellier, Bordeaux, Amiens, Tours, yadda yadda yadda, find all dates nicely listed right here actually.

Attached below then is the video accompanying for Hallogallo. A psychedelic super-cut from Koji Shima’s 1952 Warning From Space: a movie on the impending demise of planet Earth and mankind’s inevitable need to one day set off into deep space to have any hope of surviving as a race. Team Poule says, well, it ain’t over til it’s over.
