New Frontier: BenZel

Yesterday BenZel made my day releasing a new track “Falling in love” on Soundcloud. I love how BenZel use chopped and screwed RnB samples and create a futuristic RnB sound, far better and wittier than this David Guetta-RnB-sound from Usher and so on.

BenZel popped out of nowhere. On their Souncloud page it is stated that BenZel is Japanese duo Umi Takahashi (15) and Yoko Watanabe (16) from Osaka. Who “met in early 2012 through an online message board about ankle socks and quickly discovered they each had a profound appreciation for 90’s RnB and J. Dilla.” But hearing the track I instantly thought of Two Inch Punch, aka TIP aka Ben Ash – get it?, who I think did some of the greatest productions in 2012. The sound, the colorful artwork both seem very similar to TIP. A month ago BenZel released their first track which was featured by Jessie Ware – Jessie and TIP are both on PMR records…

So I’m wondering is BenZel = Two Inch Punch = Ben Ash ?
