Canadian powerhouse Carly Rae Jepsen has a new song out with Dev Hynes aka Lightspeed Champion aka Blood Orange which couldn’t be more slurpy and 80s and poppy. However, London sling shot Luka has edited the sweet bejeezus out of the track, slowing it down, looping it, turning it into a brilliant four minute laid track to groove out to on a summer festival as well as on your average week night at home. Be sure to catch one of Luka’s set around Europe somewhere, all dates and info here.

Copenhagen’s finest, Lisa Alma, is busy putting wheels on her upcoming second LP titled Sweater which will be out April 21st on Dumont Dumont. Meanwhile, she can’t believe how cold and refreshing the water is around this time of the year and presents the world with a second single off the new album. Fine is a featherlight pop song without being cheesy – which is something only the grand ones manage to achieve. Grand bliss.
Also, Lisa Alma will be partying hard through Germany next month. Playing Hamburg May 14th, Berlin May 15th and Cologne on the 16th. Make sure to catch the release party in Copenhagen on April 21st too.
Hardly a hot tip at this point but nevertheless one worthy of a tip. London’s super group CITIZENS! release their red hot new second album titled European Soul today – on no other label than Kitsuné. Three years after their epic debut and a prolonged world wide tour this is album is highly anticipated. And the lads do deliver to a maximum. Fourteen great tracks, within the lines of the banging single Lighten Up, attached above. Catchy, poppy, feel good summer vibes.
The European Soul will be supported by a range of European gigs as well. See the lads in London at XOYO April 16th, which is Thursday this week, Gaïté Lyrique in Paris on Saturday, Privatclub in Berlin on Monday and Hamburg’s Molotow on Tuesday. Get behind that asap.
I’m just glad we got to see each other, talk and re-meet each other, save a place in heaven ’til the next time we meet forever. No, this is not a Jay-Z rework. Nothing but moments of honesty coming in from Dear Tracks out of Grand Rapids, Michigan, by way of Sweden’s Drömljud Records though. Pure riffs and crooning vocals that give you the goose bumps and make you want to get in a car drive off into the sunset. Look out for more, this is gold.
Forever band crush Bravestation out of Toronto broke the silence and released a hot new track last week. Haven is as pure and great as they are and comes with a warm promise of an EP to be out on Culvert Music next month. It’s April and spring is just around the corner, lurking underneath every breeze of air, shadows are getting shorter again and the light gently stays a few minutes longer every day. Haven is that song.
