Ouff. This is really really exciting. Sweden’s Karl X Johan have been among Team Poule’s favorites for quite some time now and they have only really released a grand total of two songs over the past two years. Not exactly a whole lot, but quality goes over quantity. Well, good news, hope you’re sitting down because you can DOUBLE that number now!

The duo actually did record new songs, strapped them together and released their first EP last month. With 7 and half minutes playing time, it’s hardly an “extended” play but we’ll take it. The two songs and the cute intro have been on repeat here at Poule HQ – just doesn’t get old. Karl X Johan have this secret ingredient that is really hard to put your finger on. Absolutely loving the new songs.

Do You Remember/ Get It All is out now through Stockholm’s eeemotion. You can find their previous greats Flames and Fantasies on Poule d’Or Compilations 4 and 7 –  both still free for download from the left sidebar.

We’re approaching the turn of the year – and you know IF those Mayans got SOMETHING right at last, it might be the last and final of them all. So really, now is the time to take a look back at what happened in 2012. A rather memorable musical event that comes to mind was Spleen United‘s gig at Reeperbahn Festival in September. Those sleek Danes put on quite a show. Electropop at it finest, heavy emphasis on electro.

The quartet is actually releasing its new album School Of Euphoria this week – and listening to it makes the Poule all sorts of euphoric (ba dum tsss!). High speed electro beats, massive synths, you know, all the good stuff. I know bands hate being compared to other bands, but 1) The Spleen Uniteds are surely not reading this and 2) try and stop me, so if you’re digging WhoMadeWho or Sweden’s Slagsmålsklubben, Spleen United will be rrrrright up your alley. Attached is their new single and the album’s opener Days Of Thunder, comes with a video too. School Of Euphoria is out this Friday, November 16th.

They are best to be consumed live though, and as luck would have it they’re playing a couple of shows in Denmark starting next week. Then, in January they’ll regroup for an extended German tour, playing Berlin the 24th and Hamburg the 26th among others – given the Mayans actually fucked up their calculations of course.

Belfast’s Yes Cadets have been a constant source of joy since releasing their wonderful debut EP Le Mans in September. They are now busy taking the songs on tour and have been traveling across Europe for the last couple of weeks already. But you’re still in luck. They’ll play Hamburg on Friday, Cologne, Vienna and more cities after that: find it all on facebook. Above is their infectious single Seconds In A Minute.

Lovely, lovely inbox surprise by IYES from Brighton. And they actually formed a whopping fifteen years days (details – come on!) ago. How about that. They are “here to stay” though. However, they prefer to stay in the shadows for now – you know, all secret and stuff. No facebook, no homepage, no nothing. Just this song Lighthouse, the sort of The xx-esque first single off their upcoming four track EP. If you happen to be in Brighton on Monday November 19th – they’ll be supporting Kitsuné’s Citizens! at The Haunt.

London’s Get People return with yet another great song – really excited to hear an album or something more like a full-length release from these lads. Back To Dust is their latest single and will be out as 12” vinyl release through Luv Luv Luv Records on Monday, November 19th. Now and I haven’t actually listened to MGMT in a very long time, but this track sort of reminds of them, or at least that’s how they sound in the Poule’s head. Which isn’t necessarily a bad association I guess.

New Frontier: Bear Face

Future RnB, Love Step, Future Love Step.. there are many names for these new slow jamz with sampled and distorted RnB samples. A good one was just released by Belfast’s Bear Face. Check his LP on bandcamp. My absolute favourite track is “Taste My Sad”. Oooff it goes so under my skin. With this shitty weather cuddle up under a blanket, drink wine, and put some Bear Face on. But don’t get too melancholic.
