IMG_0877So on Friday Manchester’s Delphic stopped in Hamburg on their European tour – having seen them a couple of times already when they were touring with their first (brilliant) album Team Poule was quite excited. They played an energetic set, again, but it was somewhat surprising to see them play a load of the old songs and only a handful from the new album. Which is great, as the old ones are fantastic, especially live. It does however say something about their new album if you wanted to turn that against them. Which we don’t. The way singer/bassist James Cook is in the music on stage is super good to watch. And then those deep electro lines set in – brilliant.

Haven’t actually had a chance to listen to much of the new album on record but on stage the ones they played were unusually poppy – at least having them right next to the old ones. Either way it was great concert – Delphic certainly still got it. This is Baiya off their new album Collections. Out now. Etc.

Peter-Michel-600x408Sweet baby Jesus – this track might just be the best that has passed through Poule headquarters this year. Perfect dreamy riffs, just PER-FECT. Floating somewhere between Beach Fossils and Kisses, Hibou – pronounced Hibou, haha no, really: eee-boo, eeeeeeee-boo – well eee-boo released this amazing track Glow which basically I can’t take my ears off. Marvelous song. Comes with a b-side that is just as good.

Hibou is no stranger though. Remember Craft Spells? This is their drummer, Peter Michel. Really promising stuff – stay tuned.

supernovaAwesome minimal electronic production from Jackson Kelley out of Salt Lake City this – and how about that name. Einstein in a Patent Office. Sounds like the beginning of a joke. He is not joking around with his music though: his new EP Supernova Sounds is out next week, March 11th on Sweden’s Mareld Records. Great stuff, up for streaming on Soundcloud.

sideswiped_v04b-MIXG_00361Great new song by San Francisco’s favorite Astronauts, etc. Anthony already shared a track for Poule d’Or 10 last year, now he returns with Sideswiped. Another great gem, loving those vocals: Every time I feel like I’m feeling all right, I get punched in the gut of my absent mind. Every time I feel like I’m feeling all right, I get sideswiped.

Photo-Interview #8: Tubbe

Tubbe2Here we go for another photo-interview! It’s been a while and it’s about time for a new one: electro pop duo Tubbe went the extra mile for this one and replied to our thoughtful question in photos/images. Thank you guys for taking the time! Tubbe are Steffi and Klaus from Berlin. And before reading on, hit play on that song below — so, while Klaus’ beats and bass are warm, straightforward and easily digestible, it’s Steffi’s voice that makes the plumage tickle when listening to their debut album Eiscafe Ravetto.

She sings in both English and German, so not sure how this sounds when you don’t speak the Deutsch but I have a pretty good feeling about this. Wrapped in dance-y beats Steffi and Klaus achieve to deliver this subtle romance with a sort of sad twist – like the ephemeral summer love that is the most fun and beautiful but you know there is an expiration date on it all.. truly a fantastic debut, with an underlying layer throughout the entire album.

Eiscafe Ravetto will be out and available through Hamburg’s notorious Audiolith label this Friday, March 1st. I reckon Tubbe are best to be consumed live and dancing though so watch out for their tour schedule here. They’ll be touring Germany, France and Switzerland later this month, Toulouse March 22nd, Paris March 29th, Berlin April 10th – and a lot more.

rangleklodsCopenhagen’s amazing Rangleklods are the talk of the town these days. The dandy Danes are touring Europe RIGHT NOW.. playing Hamburg’s Haus III&70 tomorrow night, Feb. 28th that is – supported by Team Poule’s favorite one-man-show Kirrin Island.

Then next up on Friday, the place to be if you’re in Berlin: The Rangleklods are playing Nordic by Nature’s party at Festsaal Kreuzberg with Rough Days For Diamond Trade and Deko Deko supporting. Be actually rude not to go.

Attached is one of their darker numbers, Cough. Find all their dates here – there are tons.
