Eeeek – can totally get behind this tropical electronic sweetness of a song. Red hot new out of Paris. Anthems got a split EP coming up with Champions League – who just opened the 12th Poule d’Or Compilation with their banger Ebiza. Snag your free download if you haven’t. In the meantime, hit play on Up In Mine.
Such love. Such heart. Los Angeles’ Blondfire have a new song out and it’s pure bliss in these cold winter times. Young Heart is sweet and light as cotton candy. It’s the title track off their upcoming album which is equally brilliant to say the least. A bouquet of great songs that will just be stuck in your head. You hit play and you are in a good mood. Young Heart – the album – is out today, btw. Check your local iTunes store.
Also, they’ll be playing with The Sounds all across the states in March and April. Team Poule watched these chaps in Austin two years ago – it’s a party you do not want to miss out on. Check their dates.
There is this large gray area between music and noise called “experimental.” So whenever you find yourself surfing the SoundCloud and you see a song tagged “experimental” it mostly means the uploader was just playing around with some tunes on his laptop and still had some free space on his account. But this track by production duo MWMITCA out of London in Britain is not like that. It does actually feel like an experiment. It does actually feel like they are trying something new. And it does actually look like an experiment. So, at the end, it’s a 7-minute-joyride through ambient soundscapes that leaves you behind a bit breathless, happy. Definitely one to keep an eye on.
So, as Team Poule returns to its regular business: Here comes, by way of London via Belfast, The Soft Look. And oh my, I can’t quite reconstruct how this ended up on my iPod but it’s a shockingly good EP this “electro-pop individual” released here. Attached is bloody amazing opener High Water. Get that whole EP though, easily one of the best things you will listen to today – possibly even all year. And it’s only February!
Here we go for yet another compilation, only picked the finest grapes for this one. It’s been a while since number 11 and putting together this new selection took a bit longer that anticipated, but it has been real fun and it’s taking Poule d’Or straight back to its roots. Genuinely happy sharing this collection with you now.
A big thank you to all the artists involved. Really glad having you guys on board. It’s an absolute treat, every time. Also a shout-out to fellow Hamburg music blog Camels & Lions, who has been a stellar source and supporter for this edition. Hat-tip to the camel’s head Nicolas for sublime taste in music and overall swag.
Scroll down to download the set of mp3s for your on-the-go listening pleasures or stream the mix on 8tracks. Here goes the track list, hope you enjoy these songs as much as Team Poule does. Thank you for being here. Shalom.
So, being a kid of the late-80s and early-90s – this one by Torgny from Oslo is right up Team Poule’s icy alley. The memory is blurry but this is what it was like in retrospect. Synth, electronic, and a little bit of Michael Jackson in everything. When it was really important to SOUND good. You know.
And as much as he is doing right with these tunes, he is doing, well, differently, in his press shots. So instead, here is the photo of a police dog trying to use a pay phone in New South Wales in 1935.
Attached is Nights, the man’s new single.
