Eeeeeek – fully into this Soundcloud channel by presumably Brooklyn based producer Peter going by the name of Mundane. Attached is his latest gem. Reworking Lion Babe’s Treat Me Like Fire into a dreamy, electronic twilight ride. Pure bliss. Lose yourself.
So, summer has sort of arrived. And with it, the need to soundtrack long nights under the starry skies. Strong contender: Young Rising Sons – new outfit out of New Jersey. High is their latest single and stuckkk in Team Poule’s head.
“But let the mind beware, that though the flesh be bugged, the circumstances of existence are pretty glorious.” Vast plains, cold rocks, conifers. Berlin’s dream punk Still Parade released his new EP Fields last week and with it this beaut of a single. Reunion is as dreamy and hugging as it gets. And if you are not entirely aware of who this Still Parade is and you’re not even into reading so much, look here.
Here another mysterious group for you: Eyelid Kid. Rumors have it, they hail from Los Angeles. But we don’t know what to believe. However, speaking through their publisher, they want to emphasize that despite the Kid they are in fact a group and that the music will do the talking. For now. And that this above actually is a real octopus. So with that, hit play.
So, SPOT Festival 2014 is a wrap. It’s been a first for Team Poule at this prestigious indie festival and Aarhus, you have been cold but you have been full of memorable moments. Nicely set in the city centre around the music hall, a conference center and a transformed train station, the musical line-up was heavily dominated by Danish acts.
Hands down. The one gig I look forward to the absolute most at SPOT Festival in Aarhus this week, 1-4 May is the League of Extraordinary Gentlemen. This match-up made in heaven, Simon of When Saints Go Machine and San Diego’s NOTE The Rydah. The two have been making music together for quite a while and it’s a shame to admit they flew under the Poule’s radar up until now. They already released two great EPs a few years ago and now, at this year’s SPOT the duo will showcase some of their material – and sweet baby jesus, attached is On The Hunt off their 2012 EP Superconductor – one of the best songs to cross the Poule’s coop this year. Absolutely stellar track.
And most excitingly, The League of Extraordinary Gentlemen will begin their concert with a short film about their collaboration in the months leading up to SPOT, produced by KnockKnock. The duo started making music together online in 2007, but they did not meet in a studio until 2012 – and you know Team Poule loves a good short film documentary. Watch the hysterical trailer, here.
