So, Total Warr are easily one of the most exciting bands in the world – IN THE WORLD! When you find your inbox flooded with new music every day, only a few bands remain whose new releases will really tickle your plumage. But Kiki and Guigui of french drum-pop ensemble Total Warr cause severe excitement everytime they drop a new track. And do you know when people are playing the hot and cold game with you? Like, not answering to calls or texts? Total Warr are a bit like that. Their music is irresistible, so they can get away with that behaviour. They do emphasize though that we can “hate their band” and “hate their music” and that they don’t even need our friendship. Offensive! Yet, makes you want (to listen to) them even more.

The brilliant, the one and only, the über-amazing Crystal Fighters released a new song – celebrating their US album release. Words aren’t really enough to describe the Poule’s love for Crystal Fighters. Their music is just the best. They are the most EPIC live shit I have ever seen. Easily my favorite gig at SXSW this year. SO good. They are currently touring the States with – hope you are sitting down – IS TROPICAL. That’s the line-up dreams are made of.
Some fresh pop tunes coming our way from Norway. Riot Break is Hanne Kolstø’s debut solo album and has been out in Norway for over half a year. Now it’s finally trickling down its way into mainland Europe. Its 10 songs are not just your average Scandinavian pop sound with a hint of electronic beats, although there is a lot of that and it does sound mad fresh – see for instance the attached single below. But Hanne also throws in some more quiet and more introspective tunes like Hide & Seek or Black Hand. Norwegian daily Morgenbladet quite precisely wrote “Riot Break is the record, which Björk would have never been able to make, although she had promised it to us already 15 years ago.” Now, I’m not too familiar with Björk’s work other than that she likes wearing swans, but Riot Break is quite a brilliant collection of melodic pop songs.
