Sweet baby Jesus. Shoreline Is are somewhat of a phenomenon. See, they just released their debut LP Deal Kindly on bandcamp, stuffed with dream pop’ish songs and it’s really good. Like, fantastic. Now this is when the peculiar kicks in: they are German! That’s a bit of a surprise. Right?! Four guys, hailing from the improbable city of Dortmund – which could NOW well become Germany’s Manchester. For many reasons (looking at you football fans). So, this is maybe my favorite song from the album – maybe because it’s just a very pleasant listen all the way and I can’t really pick THE song.

This is New Fields – stream/buy the great album on bandcamp.

Breton actually make the Poule’s plumage tickle. Like, tickle-tickle-tickle. Immediately hooked when their first tracks landed in the Poule d’Or inbox. A few more demos and a great EP later, enter Other People’s Problems. The debut LP. And ka-boom, what a debut. It sounds stupid but their sound really is unlike anything I have ever heard. It’s unclear, it’s anxious, it’s hectic and YET it has a clear distinctive structure, great rhythm and just sounds harmonic. It actually doesn’t make any sense. It’s like Kafka. It is, but it isn’t.

But boiling Breton down to just one dimension (sound) wouldn’t do them justice. It’s the combination of sounds, visuals and rhythm they strive for, as lead singer Roman recently told French-German TV channel arte. When Team Poule saw Breton at SXSW, it was like they actually played a concert – they brought their own visuals, silver screen and everything, for EACH show! It was only my first time in Austin, but it felt really special they’d go through the troubles of setting it up for each gig – up to 3 a day. They are serious, in all dimensions.

Breton’s debut album Other People’s Problems is out now on Fat Cat Records – it is obviously brilliant. Prefix has it up for streaming.

Nice little indiepop treasure by Bogan Via – hailing from the lovely city of Phoenix, Arizona. No known affiliation with Mr. West. Yet. Maybe? Music’s good. That’s all I need on a Monday.

Rad and exciting new tunes coming our way from Leeds. Jaymz Dean. Enjoying a cup of tea. Making music. That guy. Special thanks for the heads-up to one of my favorite blogs Is Not Tropical.

Not sure WHAT to make of The Mints Of Idaho – but they’ve been going on for a while, so the Poule might as well throw them up here and let the people decide. Or something like that. Democratic votes! With facebook thumbs. I don’t even want to get into details too much, seems like really hard work. They’re not really transparent, Soundcloud says they’re from Galaxy, Germany – but I’m not buying it. And unless there is something I don’t see, BBTTBTBT isn’t just a cat walking over the keyboard but a cat performing full on dance moves – on the keyboard! Anyway, just listen to this song, and maybe definitely check their Soundcloud (“It’s Magic MAN!”). Okay maybe one more word: A New-Millenium-Female-Tribe Called Quest. Okay that was more than one word.
