Epic, EPIC new single by Manchester’s Egyptian Hip Hop off their upcoming debut album Good Don’t Sleep – out October 22nd on R&S Records (sick!). They shared an early demo for Poule d’Or 4 (see left side bar) in July 2010 and released a Hudson Mohawke produced EP later that year which is still on high rotation at Poule d’Or headquarters. Really excited to hear the new album, can’t wait. Yoro Diallo below isn’t really doing THAT much but the Poule is loving the shit out of it right now. Perfect.

While yesterday picks for Reeperbahn Festival Icona Pop didn’t seem to care too much about the 70s – you’re from the 70s, I’m a 90’s bitch – it seems that today’s favorite Parisienne Mina Tindle is right into that decade. It was Milo Tindle, a character played by Michael Caine (!) in 1972’s mystery movie ‘Sleuth’ by Joseph Mankiewicz, who inspired her stage name.
She released a really lovely EP last year packed with sweet folk’ish indie pop tunes. In March she followed up with a debut album that is just as appealing. Soft ballads, as well as happy pop tunes that just put a smile on your face. Just like her new single Too Loud that comes with this adorable video above.
Mina Tindle is playing Café Keese on Thursday at 20h30.

Next pick for Hamburg’s upcoming Reeperbahn Festival: Icona Pop. Maybe not exactly an insider’s tip but Team Poule is really über-excited to catch their gig. The Swedish duo pinned a track on the tenth Kitsuné Maison compilation back in 2010 and has been under close surveillance by Team Poule since. Things certainly went well for them with a debut EP Nights Like This released last year and a new EP release just around the corner. Attached is their epic single I Love It.
They will play back-to-back gigs Saturday night at 00h45 at Café Keese and 2h20 at Neidklub. Can’t wait.

For reasons beyond the Poule’s understanding the weather decided to be all grey and cold and fall’ish and the Poule was forced to stand in pouring rain for 10 minutes waiting for the bus to the promised land. Not code. Actual bus stop. So, finding Cruiser‘s EP in my inbox totally turned my day around – beautiful collection of dreamy indie-pop songs, with beachy guitars and infectious melodies. Super good. The whole product was produced by Jeremy Park and before you ask, yes it’s that Jeremy Park (the one who produced Youth Lagoon’s The Year of Hibernation).
Attached is my personal favorite Home Turf – on which he almost sounds like that Vampire Weekend guy. What’s his name again? Stream the great full EP (and also snag a free download of the upbeat Don’t Go Alone) on Soundcloud. And New Yorker’s listen up – he’ll be playing at CMJ next month, dates to be announced.

Our favorite Berlin-based forty-niner label Humming Records has dug up another nugget. Northern-Irish indie poppers extraordinaire Yes Cadets. Their self-described dancing-shoe-gaze comes in the form of a 5-track EP that is arguably among the best EPs this year has seen and it’s giving the Poule all sorts of good feelings. Attached is the lead single Le Mans which the band also shared on the 10th Poule d’Or compilation: still free for download in the left sidebar. The EP is out today on Humming Records.

Next week from 20th to 22nd Hamburg’s prestigious Reeperbahn Festival opens its gates for this years edition. Clubs and bars along Hamburg’s arguably most famous street are hosting more than 200 bands over the course of three days. Right in the SXSW-vein. Among the line-up are big names like The Temper Trap, Yeasayer, Electric Guest and the notorious Kakkmaddafakka. But it’s not just about music, Reeperbahn also hosts over 40 street, digital and fine art exhibitions throughout the weekend.
So, this kicks off a series of smaller bands on the schedule that Team Poule is really eager to see. Like the case of Swim Deep. The four lads from Birmingham have been on our radar ever since they shared Santa Maria for the 8th Poule d’Or compilation a year ago. Really excited to finally see them in action. Clearly a must-see this year. They are playing Molotow on Friday night, 00h45.
Attached is their hit single King City – last week they released a new single Honey, which you shouldn’t miss as well.
