Hat tip to mastermind Kirrin Island for this one. Los Angeles resident Eaves has this brilliant EP out on bandcamp. Six chilled electronic songs made for a lazy Sunday night or anytime really. Lazy or dancing? This is your soundtrack. For just 7 bucks you can claim a handy cassette tape your own – now that’s a Christmas offer you can’t refuse.
Totally falling for these soft electronic tunes around this time of the year. It’s interesting how big of an effect the weather has on you. So but George Maple is an fun fact, she is Australian and just toured Europe and the US with this band called Flight Facilites – epic! Maybe you have already seen her then? Team Poule hasn’t, but we’re intrigued. Ms Maple also did some of the production work on Flume’s hyped debut album, so now working on her own stuff this is something to look forward to in 2013.
Remember two years ago? When we had a little advent calendar thing going on? Well, this year around, things get a bit more “physical”: Sweden’s enchanting Death In The Afternoon have just released their sophomore album Kino – and you can win it, along with a beautifully designed tote bag and their debut album Great White Whale! Twice!
All you have to do to claim one of these TWO DITA packages – with, let me emphasize this, BOTH albums and a handy tote bag to carry around your favorite things where ever you go – is come up with your own meaning of what DITA can stand for and comment on this post. Use a valid email address so we can get in touch with you, simple as that. If you comment through facebook, make sure we can message you. The winners will be picked Sunday December 16th, 6pm CET.
Kino is out and available since last week and it’s a pretty amazing collection of synth-laden pop songs. Kino actually is a great leap forward from their last album. Even more catchy tracks and dark synths – with a much lighter atmosphere to it. Always a plus in my book. Grab your copy here. Attached is Team Poule’s favorite Lions – hit play.
Nothing like a lazy Sunday afternoon in December. It’s snowing outside, it’s getting dark by 4pm. And it could all be very depressing IF it wasn’t a Sunday and IF Denai Moore hadn’t just landed in the Poule’s inbox. Flaws is just the right soundtrack for today, a beautiful mix of folk and soul. Denai Moore, who was born in Jamaica in 1993 and moved to London ten years ago, is just finishing her debut EP, which will be out and available next month. Exciting!
Yesterday BenZel made my day releasing a new track “Falling in love” on Soundcloud. I love how BenZel use chopped and screwed RnB samples and create a futuristic RnB sound, far better and wittier than this David Guetta-RnB-sound from Usher and so on.
BenZel popped out of nowhere. On their Souncloud page it is stated that BenZel is Japanese duo Umi Takahashi (15) and Yoko Watanabe (16) from Osaka. Who “met in early 2012 through an online message board about ankle socks and quickly discovered they each had a profound appreciation for 90’s RnB and J. Dilla.” But hearing the track I instantly thought of Two Inch Punch, aka TIP aka Ben Ash – get it?, who I think did some of the greatest productions in 2012. The sound, the colorful artwork both seem very similar to TIP. A month ago BenZel released their first track which was featured by Jessie Ware – Jessie and TIP are both on PMR records…
So I’m wondering is BenZel = Two Inch Punch = Ben Ash ?
So this is a bit peculiar: dreamy electro pop from – hope you’re sitting down – Vienna Austria. And it’s actually really good. Hubert Mauracher has just released his second album Super Seven and it comes packed with delicious tunes.
