Rad & New: CTM – Variations EP

caecilietrier_CTM_byNinaMouritzen 700Ghaaaa – listen to THAT voice. Brilliant. Add those fine smooth beats and boom – Team Poule is sold. We are kids of the 80s here at Poule HQ, so CTM is right up our alley, like door step close up our alley. We were already quite hooked when her lead single Jewel came out last year – so now with this bad boy of an EP on our hands, it’s love. Unconditional.

Variations‘ five songs go so well together in perfect harmony – it is actually spectacularly beautiful. Like, gazing. Copenhagen-based Cæcilie Trier has produced an exceptional debut. Attached is the title track Variation. But try and get your ears on the opener Elsa Palma – pure bliss that one. As is the piano-driven Space Grid. Well, all five of them actually.

So, if you have a thing for smooth 80s pop music do yourself a favor and get a copy of that EP – out February 18th on Tambourhinoceros. Also, Cæcilie: Copenhagen isn’t far from Hamburg at all – Team Poule will travel, get a cup of coffee, see your show. Drop us a line.

tropics-posterSweet electronic production from Tropics this – already quite popular. This is one of Chris Ward’s latest gems Invitation. I reckon it’s best to be consumed live though – and we’re in luck!

He is touring Europe next week. Follow his Invitation (ba dum tss) and go see the man perform at Haus73 in Hamburg next Monday – that is February 4th, HOW is it February already..?! – then in Berlin’s Berghain Kantine on the 5th and a couple more dates before leaving for sunny Austin and SXSW. This guy! Drop by, say hi. All dates here.

NN_presspic_3Ace tunes coming our way from Stockholm. Indie pop extraordinaire this one, with an anthem-esque chorus: the gloves are coming off! The quartet – two pairs of brothers, whaaat! – are releasing their debut EP February 12th and it’s certainly one of the more exciting ones this year. Being mixed by the same guy who already (rather successfully) worked with Miike Snow (amazing!) and Niki and the Dove (ah–mazing!). So while Gloves is a great entry point to Nervous Nellie, you better try and get your hands on that whole EP because it’s mighty awesome.

victories_at_seaBirmingham’s exciting Victories at Sea have a brand new song out. 2012 turned out to be really great for them, supporting Errors, Savages, Editors and Tall Ships amongst others. They’re now busy finishing their debut EP to be released in spring. Gonna be great! Also check Future Gold.

Mega excited to host this. Sweden’s darling number one Summer Heart has been blessing us with smooth and chilled summer (d’uh) tunes for almost two years now – he spent the last couple of months recollecting, regrouping, working on new songs and boom: in the midst of European winter David Alexander is releasing the first offspring: Hit Me Up Again! And boo-yaa. 7 seconds into the songs and already loving it. Think the snow outside just melted a little bit. Those warm riffs in the beginning: it’s next-level Summer Heart. Pure bliss.

But really it only goes with the visuals – did you hit play? Look at this beautiful video by swedish film maker Jonas Börjesson, head of Pool Sessions. Fantastic. Hiiiiiit meeee uuuuup — agaaaaain. Stuck in my head. The single will be out and available tomorrow.

is tropicalThe Is Tropicals have been on Poule’s radar from their very beginning, even before Poule d’Or existed – can you imagine?! Life b.P. Anyway, big fan! Then this badboy of a new EP landed in Poule HQ: four brand new tracks, all seemingly evolving around their recent South American endeavors. The trio is busy working on their sophomore album which is supposed to come out later this year. To get their heads clean, they decided to squeeze out some of their more electronic demos and release them, backed up by a few friends, on this EP entitled Flags.

Attached is Oi Peru – the latest single produced by Visions, it comes with an interesting video too. Also don’t miss Venezuela off that EP, produced by our precious friends over at Get People > grab them on Poule 8 and 9.
