Now, here is something that Team Poule has been meaning to put in the spotlight for a long time. NOTE, one half of duo League of Extraordinary Gentlemen which he forms with When Saints Go Machine producer Simon, released his debut album Love & Indifference back in March. And before you get all rah rah rah rap music, sit down for a minute and give this one a proper listen. At 19 tracks Love & Indifference comes in as quite the heavy weight but as soon as you hit play you sail right though it. A wonderful range of vast, deep electronic beats going from slow and funky to almost techno bpms at times which makes it a really enjoyable album to listen to.
Furthermore, the instrumental diversity is always anchored by NOTE’s deep voice that so perfectly matches its musical surroundings. NOTE goes from talking, rapping, singing to simply complementing the beats, somewhat turning the voice into another instrument, merging with the music. More than a mere ‘rap’ album NOTE’s Love & Indifference is an all around modern and thus ultimately pop music album. A proper piece of art and the perfect soundtrack to whatever activity you fancy, making it both rad and new. Love & Indifference is out now on Proximal Records and up on Bandcamp. Sort of a premiere for this one. Many Things‘ latest visual musing are already up on Clash Music but here Team Poule got a go ahead for the German exclusive. So listen up fellow dot-de’ers: Many Things got a red hot new single out and they got this great, great video going along with it – directed by I Owe Youth, produced by Natasha Farrar. It features a gentlemen, dressed in lady’s clothes – if that doesn’t tickle your fancy what will.
And mostly it’s their music which gives you the goose bumps, spectacularly produced while still straight forward banging rock music and then there is this voice. Just beautiful and the latest Burn Together neatly follows their stream of phenomenal singles. Can’t wait to hear that debut album, also titled Burn Together will be out this summer and in the meantime, check out this feel good anthem and appreciate life, or so.
Madness tunes arriving at Poule HQ by way of Av Av Av – the triangle offense from Copenhagen uniting the highly skilled producers Unkwon, DJ EDDEH and ELOQ. The three of them released a mad EP titled They Live in April And obviously this is a treat you would want to see on a stage.
You are in luck of course because they are going to play Roskilde next Sunday, June 28. In July they can be seen at infamous Appletree Festival in German nest Diepholz before playing good old Dockville Festival in Hamburg in August. In between they will be turning the discs at Copenhagen’s own Trailerpark Festival – home field advantage for that one. Hit play on Holla which is attached below but can’t be found on said EP.
One of the hottest traded commodities for the past twelve and more months: Blaue Blume out of Copenhagen. After being the artist to watch for at least two consecutive years, the quartet has now built their debut album, waiting for the proper time to unleash the beast. Which looks to be September – and here now comes the first drop, Thinking Of Roxy: painting a picture with words, dreamy riffs and those trademark vocals. A banging soundtrack to the shortest of pink summer nights.
Finally some new tunes by American uber poppers Astronauts, etc. It seems to have been a while, and like a fine wine, their sounds aged perfectly. No Justice is their second offering this year and hopefully the harbinger of a bigger release to follow. Gimme.
Sweden’s finest Heart/Dancer have a range of European dates lined up for themselves that you should be aware of: the duo is playing LeNüba in Paris June 11th – alongside a DJ set by old mates Employee of the Month. After that they are off for a gig in Gothenburg June 13th before throwing it down hard in London July 7th and 10th – all venues here.
