Never put all your eggs into a single basket. So on the look for diversification and new wells to drill for our regular new music routine, Team Poule ran across these guys Wild Echo on fancy new source of anything exciting and worth investing time (and coins) in: Tradiio – get a virtual stake in bands and songs and earn sweet perks afterwards while finding your new favorite band.
And don’t you know it, emerging out of the vast base, here come Wild Echo. Their music has a strong pop’y edge to it while also pushing the rough notes underneath. They had an EP out in January, six songs ranging from forward indie pop numbers to the great and very catchy and dreamy piece Deep Water – attached below.
The five of them are pictured above and residing in London, usually. They just returned from a gig at prestigious Field Day Festival, reason enough to enquire and see what Wild Echo are all about.
You just played Field Day in London, how was that? First time?
Field Day went really well. It was our first time playing there, although we had been there before. It’s always a great festival with an amazing line up, so we were really happy to be a part of that. [continue reading…]
MS Dockville is going down hard this weekend in Hamburg, starting Friday for three nights of extravaganzas. Globetrotter and polyglot Luka is nicely set in the line-up with a slot on Sunday afternoon at Klüse – a stage slighty elevated, right by the great Elbe river, opposite of impressing harbour machinery. Luka’s electronic ambient vibes have seen an equally fast and steep rise in popularity this year, sporting him gigs at Primavera and Field Day and features with Kitsuné, XLR8R, The 405, FADER and so on and on under his stylish belt. Rightly so.
Luka is playing Klüse on Sunday, at 18h30. Attached below is his latest treat, Fault Lines.
US trio Lemonade have been a Poule favorite ever since their banging single Lifted in 2010. Through Cascine now comes the next puzzle piece to their grand catalogue. Dancer On The Shore features the trademark steel drums and easy go sailing summer feelings, a perfect companion to your day under the palm trees with a light breeze around your ankles and a pink drink in your hand.
Meanwhile, the brothers and sisters at Cascine are celebrating their 5 year anniversary at The Wythe Hotel in Brooklyn, Sep. 17. Catch Lemonade alongside Chad Valley, Korallreven, Yumi Zouma and Cuushe.
Woman are a band from Cologne and – on the back of having just played with Britain’s infamous ensemble Jungle – they will be exciting to see at MS Dockville festival in Hamburg next week. Furthermore, their electronic vibes are warm and overflowing with bass and rhythms and the demo track Psychedelic Lover, attached below, will be sure to be stuck in your head for the rest of the week. At least.
Woman will be playing Sunday, 15h10 at Maschinenraum. Should be great scene to watch on a sunny Sunday afternoon.
Wawawewa! It’s August, that time of the year again. Hamburg’s lovely river island of Wilhelmsburg is playing host to no less than six official stages for MS Dockville, August 21-23. And what a fine line-up the chaps managed to bring together this year: Interpol, Caribou, Four Tet, Little Dragon, Darwin Deez, Rangleklods, Sylvan Esso, All We Are, Dan Deacon, Hayden James, yadda yadda yadda the list just goes onnn and on. Plus lots of local acts. Surreal! And what’s most beautiful about MS Dockville is the fact that it’s taking place on an actual island, with a whole lot of green and bees and a small forest and the silver Elbe running by.
Team Poule’s first hot tip is Danish electronic legend Sekuoia. He has been at it for some time and sports one of the finest live performances currently on the market. Should be a banger to watch under the skies – playing just before Rangleklods. His latest EP titled Reset Heart came out in March on Berlin label Humming Records. Attached below is the total dreamer Waves taken from his last record. Sekouia plays Maschinenraum on Sunday, 19h10.
Shhhh! Hope you are sitting down with your good headphones on because this is extra exquisite. Emmecosta are three Italians Claudio, Alfonso and Aldo who spent the last couple of years in Göteborg in Sweden and here they come with a stellar debut EP under their wings: soft but distinct beats, crystal clear vocals and a spheric electronic shell around it. Attached below is Brontos – which comes with a beaut of a new video – taken from their rad EP Untied which is out this fall on hot new label Icons Creating Evil Art (ICEA).
