Did you know that babies are born without knee caps? They apparently only grow between age 2 to 6. Now, I don’t actually know if that is 100% correct in medical terms but now that I got your attention let me point you in the direction of Tussilago, a rather exciting young group of musicians from the beautiful country of Sweden. Where presumably most people go through their days with two healthy knee caps. Tussilago then fuse one the most addictable riffs and pop vibes seen in a while. Vast and wide while being intimately warm around the ears.
Quite fittingly then, nordic team Ja Ja Ja added them to their latest line up of shows which sees the coltsfooted Swedes playing Hamburgs fine Molotow club tomorrow, 9 March, alongside hot shots LISS and dePresno. For the gig in Berlin on Thursday Danish sensations Blaue Blume will be added to the ticket too, find all info here. Attached below is Tussilago’s latest gem, Zilverkraut. Poule says, right in the kisser, Ja Ja Ja.
Main man Sway Clarke is firmly positioned to take over 2016. Fresh out the oven is his 90’s fused mixtape Quiet. It’s My 90’s Mixtape. A sort of cover project taking on the great names from Foo Fighters, Oasis, Blur, Travis and the Beastie Boys to Pearl Jam, Nirvana, Nas & Lauryn Hill. Names that entered the limelight more than two decades ago. A time when Garfield was your number one homie, when music videos were something you waited for to come on on TV, mind you, and rewinding cassette tapes was a legitimate way to spend your afternoon. Actually, if you still are into that kind of thing and can appreciate the beauty of an actual recording, limited quantities of cassette tapes containing Sway’s 90s sounds are available here – along with a full stream.
Also, Sway Clarke is currently touring the northern parts of the UK, playing Leeds tonight actually before hitting stages in Glasgow, Birmingham, Manchester, London and Bristol. Get your tickets fast.
Attached below then – with hat-tips to Oasis and the Beastie Boys – are Champagne Supernova and Sabotage (Reprise) by Mr. Sway Clarke, making this mixtape both rad and new. Team Poule says, smooth as silk.
This is Vök. They make music that is really nice to listen to and they just released a new song which is called Waiting and attached below. Team Poule thinks it is really good and you can take a listen too if you feel like it. Even more so, Vök are from Iceland and will be on a European tour, playing Poland and Germany this week, and the Netherlands, Belgium, France and the UK after that. Find all dates here.
On March 4th they will be playing the hot new venue Häkken right on Hamburgs Reeperbahn. It is a nice place with good drinks and a sound system that really makes a difference. Team Poule says, Vök bring the summer vibes.
A sunny day in most relevant parts of Europe and one that makes you feel the warmth of the sun light again and the power of the nature underneath, tip toeing, ready for spring. Time then, for another installment of Team Poule’s Sunday playlists. A nifty selection of the best tracks that saw the day of light in the past weeks or so, new music with a twist, curated by Team Poule.

France, country of cigarettes, wine and love. Meet Yalta Club, the ensemble that provides the soundtrack to activities involving at least one of the three. The bon vivants will be taking their Black Sea themed rhythms on a greater European tour, stopping in Germany and Switzerland next week. First off is Hamburg’s prestigious Häkken on Saturday night March 5th – before they are off to Berlin, Cologne, Munich, Zermatt, Nantes and more. Surreal. Attached is their banging Love – be sure to check their new gem The Door over on Spotify. Team Poule says, vibe to this.
It is the finest pleasure seeing Summer Heart riding those gravitational waves, putting out new gems at ease. Pretty Haze is his latest offering and a promise of a new album to be out sometime this year. The track comes just in time to get yourself in a mood for Mr. Summer Heart’s stint at SXSW in Austin next month – and for those New Yorkers not making the trip west: Summer Heart will be playing the Knitting Factory in Brooklyn on March 23rd, all boosted up by that hot Texan air. Now, that is something I wouldn’t want to be seen missing out on. Team Poule says, lose yourself Brooklyn – in the music, the moment.
