noble_savageThe week kicked off rather awful in this part of the world. Summer has fled the scene over night and it’s been windy and raining cats and dogs. Just then, in this grim outlook, enter Claire, day saver and avid follower who found herself surfing the SoundCloud, liking this song attached and then wired her latest finding straight to Poule headquarters. Amazing, thank you Claire, you winner.

So this is Noble Savage from Canada offering a refreshing breeze of surf pop. The lad has a new album out accompanying this song. The best part: it’s even better than this song, very diverse, has eight stellar track aaaaand it’s free name-your-price up on bandcamp. So click through, thank Claire and [tweetable hashtag=”#noblesavage #pouledor” alt=”Enjoy life with a proper soundtrack.”]enjoy life with a proper soundtrack.[/tweetable]

orca-orcaWonderful dream slash surf pop by Boston’s Orca Orca. Attached is Climb, opening track of his phenomenal debut Tidals. Snag the whole record on bandcamp. And heads-up to one of Team Poule’s favorite blogs Guerolitomusic for sharing this great track.

Massive new single by one of Germany’s finest non-automotive exports: SEA+AIR. The group started out as a solo project for Daniel Benjamin (the man) almost ten years ago – who, fun fact, played support for Whitney Houston on a couple of European gigs in 2010, whaat. Then his wife Eleni apparently got tired of him being on the road all the time so Daniel Benjamin (the band) became a duo, SEA+AIR. Which I reckon is a nice wordplay on ‘Sie und Er’, Her and Him, in german. But that is just speculation.

Husband and wife have been busily touring ever since the release of their last album, playing almost 500 shows over course of the last two years. In-sane. Attached is their latest single Dirty Love which is being released September 6th. Watch below the fine video directed by Ben Monteiro.

On top of that, they are embarking on one last hoo-rah before hitting the studio: a great European tour starting in London tomorrow, August 28th playing The Water Rats. Then working their way through Germany, the Netherlands and Poland: Cologne Sep 10th, Berlin Sep 17th and Hamburg’s Reeperbahn Festival Sep 28th, among loads of dates. A total of more than 30 shows til October – that’s dedication. And people of Regensburg, Plauen and Flensburg: your cities have been selected, too. It does sound like an awful amount of fun.

hayden_arpWashington DC’s Hayden Arp has been quietly working on new songs throughout the summer. Here is the first banger coming from his laboratory: Horses has a sick bass and nicely layered vocals. It looks like this gem might be a one-timer though. Hayden said he’s gonna focus more on the acoustic end of his talent and only wrote Horses when he needed a break from working on a more slow, sentimental album for release next spring. Good things happen once you take a break from what you feel like you’re supposed to do I guess.

tropic_harbourTeam Poule is a sucker for the dream-pop’y gem around this time of the year. Here is another perfect soundtrack. This one by Tropic Harbour, presumably from the Edmonton-area of Canada. Unfortunately Golden Rays is the only song the gentlemen is sharing with the general public at the moment. Gonna keep on this for sure.

goodbyechanelHere is another great EP of the year. Leeds’ Goodbye Chanel finally got behind releasing a small collection of his magnificent works. Through Night To Paradise features his trademark gem Liefe that he unleashed to the world in spring last year. You might also remember his euphonic track Divine which he shared for the 11th Poule d’Or Compilation in May this year.

The rest of the EP is equally fantastic. The attached Kalifornia has rays of sunlight breaking out of your speakers and the vast Wilde and Abzarkee Springs are wonderfully blurry and dreamy and yet precisely produced. It’s the perfect balance of vague silhouettes and crisp harmony, it’s like you are drifting away but you’re not. And at 23 minutes it’s a welcome soundtrack for the lunch break at your desk as well as the afternoon by the sea. Because even after listening to it five times in a row it feels same same but different. A wonderful record.

Through Night To Paradise is out now for only 4 pounds – which isn’t a lot of money for a man’s work if you think about it. Stream slash buy here.
