Another fine breed out of Hamburg’s vibrant music scene: The JUJUJUs. The girl trio just released a new single on the great Minina Music label. That is quite the accomplishment, as none of the three do actually play an instrument. However, in these modern times you don’t even need to. Their nine-piece rhythm and percussion set (designed for children) is doing the work for them, and the handy girls also MacGyver’d their own instruments out of lunch boxes and such.
Attached is one of their pleasant products: Filter. Look out for these cool cats.
There is a Japanese saying that goes: [tweetable hashtag=”#impostors #pouledor”]Oitaru uma wa michi o wasurezu.[/tweetable] An old horse knows his way. So with that elephant horse in the room, here go Imposter(s) a new group from who knows where and who really cares when the tunes are this exquisite and alluringly presented. The duo released their debut First today and has Team Poule on the edge of our seats. Crisp indie electronica, a perfect blend of avant-garde pop and rock influences.
Attached is the vast opener Impostor. See how smooth it is? As SILK. And the best part, this great maxi-single is only the first (no pun) of three. So that means two more to come. All nicely arranged, three tracks each. Keep your eyes on this one, these horses do know their way quite well. Meanwhile First is up for grabs for a limited time in exchange for a facebook like, click.
Eeeeek – Jungle are not from South Beach and yet [tweetable alt=”South Beach bringing The Heat” hashtag=”#jungle #pouledor”]bring the heat.[/tweetable] That is about as much as Team Poule can come up with for this one. Because once you hit play, you just lose yourself in the heat. The lads are playing Manchester, Brighton, Leeds and Sheffield in October – get behind that, England. Great song, more please.
One of Team Poule’s favorite bands to see live, [tweetable hashtag=”#tvft #iconapop #pouledor”]the male Icona Pop: The Very First Teenager.[/tweetable] Right in that banging electro synth, Slagsmalsklubben, HeartsRevolution vein. They are actually made to be on a Kitsuné compilation. However, despite having been around for a while, they just can’t get around recording some of their fine tunes and put together a proper release. Attached is Blue Dark which is a very fine track but only the tip of an iceberg of great songs. Hopefully the duo will manage to put an EP out at some point. In the meantime, catch The Very First Teenager in Hamburg at Hafenklang, October 11th.
Almost spherical tunes coming in from Norway. Sgrow are offering the sort of dark, deep end of the electronic music spectrum. Attached is Heartstrings off the debut EP they released in May. And good news! The duo will be stopping in Europe for a handful of shows, playing Hamburg’s Astra Stube this Friday, 13 Sept and Lüneburg on Saturday. The legend Kirrin Island is going to play too on Friday, so there really aren’t many reasons to stay absent from this. Come.
Cologne’s fruit loops duo VIMES just rolled another big one. [tweetable hashtag=”#vimes #pouledor”]Celestial is red hot new and sounds fresh and pleasant like a warm September night.[/tweetable] But hold your horses! The fun does not stop here. The single will be out alongside a selected b-side September 30th on Berlin’s über-label Humming Records and you can also catch the lads at Hamburg’s Reeperbahn Festival this month.
