boardwalkLos Angeles duo Boardwalk dropped another hot one off their debut album, to be released tomorrow. And if you are anything like Team Poule – which I really hope you’re not – you read that name and immediately associate 1920s Atlantic City and Steve Buscemi’s smirky little face with it. However, once you hit play, Boardwalk drop the Empire and at once take their business all the way across the States to the West Coast until all that’s left is the image of a dreamy promenade. Orange skies, palmy air.

Crying is their latest single and stay put, because their (great) self-titled LP will be out tomorrow October 15th on the amazing Stones Throw Records. And then there are the two minds behind the masks: Mike Edge and Amber Quintero, as pictured above. Now, I don’t know if these are made-up names to sound extra-cool but those are some stellar names. Right?

So this is one of Team Poule’s all time favorites: London’s Breton. Few bands are as complete as they are when it comes to their art and its presentation. The music, the visuals, the artwork, their shows. It all just interacts, working with each other, endogenously. Their debut album has been a constant at Poule headquarters and now their new album is starting to unfold. Attached is their new single Get Well Soon, see for yourself.

Meanwhile, Breton are off supporting those little projects Foals and Local Natives on a range of dates across Europe.

dead_young_friendsYou know that moment when you are at home with a mate, and you hit play on a song, and on the first riff look at each other, silently, talking with your eyes for literally a second, still, and then just start dancing out of control, jumping up and down? Neither do I. But I figure this EP Everything You Want Destroys What Others Have by Dead Young Friends might just do the trick. Dead Young Friends, that’s Brooklyn’s Jorge Strofer, originally from the Dominican Republic, offering a neat mix of classic rock and 90s shoegaze into a very enjoyable modern almost indie pop sound. The band actually dates back to 2009 but only released their debut album last year. This now, is their fantastic follow-up release.

Attached is the very catchy opening track, Inside Your Head. Snag the entire EP over at the bandcamp.

encoreFrench electro legends Encore released their new EP today. It’s only their second release and quite logically titled EP 2. Not much confusion there. The Versailles trio did however get more creative with their music. Four offensively great tracks, synth-driven electro with a good portion of pop music elements. [tweetable alt=”Encore are as sexy as a night out in Pigalle – coming out of your speakers” hashtag=”#encore #pouledor”]As sexy as a night out in Pigalle – coming out of your speakers.[/tweetable]

Attached is the catchy yet somewhat dark You Should. Snack the EP straight from iTunes.

Not sure what a Belgian Fog is but there are pleasant tunes coming out of it. Always a plus in Team Poule’s book. This is the moniker of Seattle’s Robert Dale and you can hear the Washington coastline right through.

jujujusAnother fine breed out of Hamburg’s vibrant music scene: The JUJUJUs. The girl trio just released a new single on the great Minina Music label. That is quite the accomplishment, as none of the three do actually play an instrument. However, in these modern times you don’t even need to. Their nine-piece rhythm and percussion set (designed for children) is doing the work for them, and the handy girls also MacGyver’d their own instruments out of lunch boxes and such.

Attached is one of their pleasant products: Filter. Look out for these cool cats.
