Eeek – our favorite Summer Heart has stepped out of his little lab and presented the world today with a new song Sleep, presumably off his upcoming album. Happiness in a song. It really is amazing to see the development from his first single Please Stay back in 2011 to this one now. While still in the same, distinct Summer Heart vibe, it sounds more mature and very sort of aware .. if that makes any sense. It really is amazing. Salute!
Also Team Summer Heart will be playing a couple of headline shows starting Monday in Ghent, then London on Tuesday and on to Birmingham, Bristol, etc, all the way up to Dublin. And back to Sweden and Helsinki. Really, there is a show for everyone. Find all dates nicely listed here.
Extra good electronic vibes coming in nice and smooth from british ensemble Palm Beach. Reach is the disco soundtrack to the distant, dreamy sunset after a long day spent at the beach, with your feet in the sand.
Oh Mamma! Reeperbahn Festival went down very professionally in Hamburg this weekend and like every year it was an absolute treat. Reeperbahn Festival takes place in a whole range of clubs, bars and concert halls all around the famous Reeperbahn street, Hamburg’s half red light district half tourist attraction. It’s not only about music but also a lot of visual artists are presenting their works. The St. Pauli football arena traditionally hosts a range of exhibitions too. And what’s great about the music line-up at Reeperbahn Festival is that they always book a LOT of small and rising bands and give them a stage and hungry audience to play for. It’s great magic. And it feels like this year they had especially many of those names.
The most magical show was played by London ensemble Nimmo and The Gauntletts (>see the official Poule d’Or instagram). The band around Sarah Nimmo and Reva Gauntlett was one of Team Poule hot tips – and they didn’t fail those high expectation one bit. A powerful set, great energy, great music. They played the cozy Prinzenbar and the air was sweating hot.

Sweden’s delicious little pop tarts Death In The Afternoon have been around for quite a while and it feels like they are constantly re-inventing themselves. Their debut in 2011 was very rock and their second album quite 80s. They now have their third album lined up for release later this year on Stockholm’s hottest label Sommarhjärta – and judged by the great first single Let’s Talk it’s neatly set in poppy middle of both their other albums. A good excuse to catch up with Linda and Christian of Death In The Afternoon.

Feels semi-weird that apparently it’s mid-September already – almost time to start thinking about those best-of lists again. One name that is very high up on Team Poule’s list this year is Danish sensation My Heart The Brave. A project of producer Caspar Hesselager from Copenhagen. He released an absolutely phenomenal self-titled EP earlier this year. One of those 30-minute-delights that give you goosebumps everytime. A beautiful production, and as an avid Poule d’Or follower you will no doubt remember.
So today, it is a great pleasure to host the world premiere of his new video for the latest single off said EP: Promise (Burns) – the last song and one of the quieter numbers on his epic EP. It’s always amazing how, when you listened to a song a lot, you get your own idea of what the song looks like, like your own video for it. And then, when there actually is a video for the song, the video makes you listen to the song in a totally new way.
The video was presumably shot in the Danish country side, and directed by Hans Høite Augustenborg and My Heart The Brave himself. Look out for awesome little Sigurd Bencke as well as Carl Høite Augustenborg and Sejr Abildgaard. Take it away.

Now Sydney’s Rüfüs have made quite the career ever since they shared their banger We Left for the fifth Poule d’Or compilation back in 2010, amassing a mere 100k facebook followers and several world tours. This week the trio will make their first appearance in Hamburg for Reeperbahn Festival. Rather well timed because their truly fantastic new album titled Atlas just came out in Europe. Sugar sweet electro pop without being too much, you know. Summer vibes.
Attached below is their latest video Sundream, so good. Rüfüs will be playing Prinzenbar on Friday, 21h20.
