Man, this year is really trying to get to you isn’t it? Luckily the stream of good music never ebbs and exhibit A in the struggle to stay positive and stay on the right side of history here comes floating in by way of Toro de Oro out of Mexico City of all places, looking for nothing but love.
Paco el Pez here is the groups latest piece and comes in preparation of their new and yet untitled EP. The team has been together for a debut album that came out last year. They strike a great tone and find neat balance between indie pop and the more dreamy ends of the spectrum, all eloquently told in Spanish.

Remember back in March, when everybody started counting the days? How many masks can one possibly need? Those were the days eh. Dorvin Borman here out of Los Angeles has fared quite well since then it seems, putting out one sweet song after another, dreamy banger after dreamy banger. Feel You, Feel Me is his latest and a timely reminder of looking left and right, and focusing on other people’s problems for once, to solve your own in the end. Break the empire.
Feel Me, Feel You is a lovely hazy piece of recording, just in time for the September days of the year when light and leaves turn orange and everything slows down a bit. Do you ever ask yourself Why? What is everybody doing? Not in a kind of religious, quest for purpose type of way. But more in a What is everybody doing type? Minding their own businesses. Well, can’t help you there, but Chicago’s Oddysseys here slam one of the hottest serves of the year home in Body Heat, their latest single. The group showcases their full talent and repertoire on this brilliant piece of recording, with a mad sense for when to change pace, and when to change direction and find you wrong footed.
The quartet is busy working on a full length album, that, at this quality, should rank right up there in the post-punk post-quarantine top-10s of this awkward year that is 2020. Nicely layered electronic vibes coming in by way of KASKE, out of the liberal hotbed that is Antwerp, Belgium. Break here is a pure groover of a track, stacking up what seem to be field recordings alongside clean cut bpms. Altogether modern and precise and yet with a nice distinct and direct vintage analog feel to it, beautiful.

Gothenburg’s CYAMO smoothed their way into this awkward year with this stellar single Electricity here, which has been out since February, attached below. They are a charming group of two, Mathias Engwall and Per-Olof Stjärnered, channeling their inner Elon Musk to produce a flawless blend of indie delicacy and palmy rock. Despite coming out in the deepest of Euro winter, Electricity perfectly soundtracks the hazy days spent on deck here at MS Poule. If a song has got the legs to wear shorts, this is it.
Steaming hot new tunes coming in by way of Gothenburg’s infamous Varø label. Damen here are an energetic quartet out of the same city and released Americana in January already but it still comes to full force in the dirty heat of July and the seclusions of a global pandemic.
They sport a neat sense for tempo and harmonies and know how to work their vocals which is always a plus of course. Americana is great pop jam in the best indie way, an anthem of a song, and off their powering Varø debut Sagrada Família that came out in February.
