Smooth production, nicely building up, one by one: a very own touch on Gallant’s original which is hardly recognizable underneath but still very much there. Legit.
Fasten your seat belts, Hamburgers. After hosting successful nights in London and Berlin for the past six years, the infamous Ja Ja Ja showcase series is coming to Molotow club and good old Hamburg this Wednesday, September 9th. Featuring then rising Scandinavian artists, such as Reptile Youth, Aurora, Mirel Wagner, Rangleklods or Highasakite in the past, Ja Ja Ja is your gateway to the hottest emerging talent from the Nordic music scene. For the kickoff event in Hamburg, Ja Ja Ja is giving Denmark’s Lisa Alma, Iceland’s Axel Flovent and Swedish ensemble Hey Elbow a stage at Molotow club.
Attached below is Hey Elbow’s single’s Ruth, taken from their debut release on Adrian Recordings Every Other with was out back in April. Hey Elbow is a three-piece out of Malmö and their fantabulous jazz slash electronic pop hybrid is among the most refreshing sounds you will hear all year. Should be a great breeze to catch on a stage.

Here is something to speed up your average Sunday. Toronto’s power group Bravestation just released their fifth release, nicely titled V. The EP carries four great new songs, all beautifully produced and with those trademark vocals that make all the difference. V is their release with Culvert Music and out now on bandcamp and everywhere. Attached below is Gemini, a perfect driver song for the Tesla-generation.
Wowzers! Swedish ray of sunshine Summer Heart has just premiered a red hot new track over at blahblahblahscience! Nothing Can Stop Us Now is taking it a bit back to the early days, putting less reverb on the vocals and sporting a clearer guitar strum through out, while at the same time lifting the distinct Summer Heart vibe to the next level – from the pure sun drenched happiness of Miami Beach to the orange Indian summer of the Portuguese riviera.
The track comes with Summer Heart being just about to embark on an extended tour in the US and Canada: playing Toronto September 8, before dates in Michigan and Indiana and a gig in Chicago, September 11. New York, Los Angeles and San Francisco being up after that. All dates, nicely listed here. Seems like they are unstoppable!
Whoa Nelly. Here come Light Music and they are packing heavy. The quartet out of Milwaukee just released their debut album Ocean’s Daughter on The Record Machine – and it’s a grand one. Beautifully produced sort of indie pop in the most broad sense. They showcase the full spectrum of their single musical experiences, all melted together in ten brilliant songs that range from rock numbers to slightly more folky tracks. Warm riffs, driving harmonies and confident vocals.

Hamburg’s historically mostly industrial used river island of Wilhelmsburg played host to the ninth edition of music and arts festival MS Dockville last weekend – attracting a total of more than 60.000 international visitors and enthusiasts over the course of three days and nights. Six stages hosted over 130 artists from around the globe as well as a fine selection of local heroes. The main stages saw memorable performances by good old Interpol, Caribou and a banging light show, Django Django, Icelandic circus FM Belfast, sunny good vibes by Darwin Deez, dreamy pleasures by Little Dragon, noise legend Dan Deacon who had the audience almost literally eating out of his hands, and really many more.
Naturally though, it’s the smaller stages that Team Poule is drawn to. The first highlight came in the form of beard-heavy electro wizard and Bavarian Occupanther, who showcased his vast and spheric repertoire twisting and turning the knobs and buttons at Klüse stage, looking over the illuminated harbour, as pictured above – supported by a live guitar player who was the icing the cake really.
