Where to begin with them. Loved Sameblod from the second I first listened to them. They released a fantastic EP last year along with the most beautiful visuals. In September they came down all the way from Sweden to play at the first Poule d’Or concert in Hamburg. So bottomline, I’m totally biased when listening to their debut album Braided Memos which just came out through Norwegian indie label Riot Factory.

It’s (obviously) absolutely astonishing. Frederick’s on-point synth production and Mike’s vocals with lots of reverb go along so great that it gives me the goosebumps. Braided Memos really has everything a 10.0 synth pop album needs (looking at you Pitchfork): that epic 7+ minutes song, the shorter instrumental song, fast-paced synth-driven songs, great artwork and an overall feel to it that is hard to describe but you know they are destined for something big. Remember the first time you listened to Wolfgang Amadeus Phoenix or My Beautiful Dark Twisted Fantasy? It’s a bit like that. The dreamy mix of synths and reverb on Braided Memos has an amazing rhythm throughout the whole album and is so much more than just a collection of songs. Remarkable debut.

Braided Memos is out now on Riot Factory and up for streaming on Spotify. First single is UR Road – grab its b-side Loud for free on Poule d’Or 9.

Twin Falcons – Glow In The Dark

Sweet new tunes coming from New Zealand’s Black City Lights – they got a new EP out on bandcamp (for free) through New York’s Stars & Letters label. Parallels has six songs and a sort of M83-like electronic pop sound with a chillwave twist. Definitely worth keeping an eye on! Check the awesome title track below.

Swede-machine Summer Heart is releasing his new album About A Feeling today. After a couple of digital EPs and Singles last year comes his first full length physical release. Eight songs straight from the dreamy wonderland. But it’s not just that. It feels like his music went through a maturing process last year which is a beautiful thing. About A Feeling carries a much bigger spectrum of different sounds than his earlier releases: from drummachine-driven tracks like I Wanna Go to more introspective and melancholic tracks like I Wanted You To Stay On The Other Side or the phenomenal closing track Say Goodbye. From start a finish are really wonderful album.

About A Feeling is out now through bandcamp.
