So I’m just reading this book with essays by an American journalist – one of them about the young Michael Jackson. When he hadn’t yet developed his iconic voice, when him, Janet and Randy just jammed for hours, when his nickname was “Smelly”. So then today, this lands in our mailbox: a new brilliant video by the most amazing Saint Motel who released a fantastic debut album earlier this year.
The video actually has sort of a nice story to it, here is A/J from the band: [continue reading…]
So Rough Days For Diamond Trade is one of those bands who just pick a sort of controversial name that seems to have a clever story behind it to then be asked about the why and what does it all mean. Frankly, too much to handle right now. Not gonna happen. Long hair, don’t care. Rough Days? Get over it. Couldn’t care less. Anywhere however is the sort of new single by Frederik Sølberg’s solo project – it’s heartbroken dance floor music. And that’s a good thing.
The Sebastian Vettel of house music, Berlin’s number one buzz-DJ Hannes Fischer better known by his stage name Hannes Fischer has dropped a new remix onto the masses (us). A Love Like This is pure and smooth, classic Fischer’ism – and that song never sounded better. If you are into the groovy kind of music, check out one of his live sets and shake you tail feather to it. All dates on his facebook.
Get the oven mitts, this one is hot and fresh. A tad bit late though, An Ending premiered on Jarri’s Naive Disco last week. But it’s too good not to share it again. Dreamy underwater music by Swedish duo Iberia – who are not Spanish. Whalewave, anyone? Iberia is the new band of the artist and producer Alexander Palmestål (Die Neue Mythologen, Pistol Disco, producer of Ikons) and Maja Milner of Makthaverskan.
Also make no mistake and watch THIS VIDEO they made for it – using epic footage of a French Monsieur in goggles holding his breath for a very long time, ring a bell? Either way, the duo is busy recording an album which will be out on Hybris in spring next year.
Britain’s Deafkid released a rather great split single last week, Pig/Talk is out now along with a handful of remixes. Stream it all over at Soundcloud. It’s the duo’s debut release and sounds quite promising all around, one to keep an eye on. Christopher and Florian have both worked with hip hop artist extraordinaire Ghostpoet for the last three years and are now sort of branching out doing their own thing. A really nice blend of electronic and folk’ish tunes with a distinct pop edge to it. Fan them.
Whoa. Feels like this year has been especially rad and new. Versailles’ Saint Michel bring some pretty strong arguments to the table. Katherine is the new single off their EP I Love Japan which was out a couple of months ago. They somehow slipped the Poule radar up until now but that EP is mighty awesome indeed.
Also, New Yorkers listen up – the flashy Frenchmen will play an Encore! Session at Le Baron Chinatown on Monday night, 8pm. November 19th that is. Sitting here rather jealous, promises to be good.
