morceau du jour: Délage – Frühling

Your happiness and good spirits can be a flakey state of affairs, one moment you might feel like you’re placed firmly in the driver seat of life, when a sudden turn of events tries to steal your mojo. Hold on to your wigs and keys then and it’s good to have a clean center of gravity, a natural point of rotation in those moments, for example a piece of music that speeds you back into orbit.

Délage here is a highly-skilled trio from Amsterdam supplying just that: Till Hormann on vocals and guitar, Carlijn Fransen on keys and vocals, and Marius Schwarz on bass and vocals. Together they come up with a fantastic blend of dreamy pop melodies and crisp post-punk riffs and loops. They just released a phenomenal self-titled EP last week with songs that showcase their creative radius. The engaging track Frühling is attached below, the EP is out now on cassette, via Hamburg’s own BBJTC label, part of the Bad Boy Jesus City Swimmers Club. It paves the way for their new album Another Day, to be released worldwide at the end of May.
